Sapphically Reclined is a brand new production company that'll be telling queer stories filled with joy, and we're going to make them accessible for free to anyone with internet access. We'll produce on a microbudget similar to verticals but with a living wage for cast and crew, finance with ads from queer-friendly companies, and release them on YouTube, people can rent or buy without ads and support on Patreon for additional content.
There are YouTube channels that host short and feature films and some movies do very well there (some feature length queer lady romcoms have over 10 million views), but those channels don't take advantage of what YouTube is - an opportunity to tear down the fourth wall and let the audience be part of the thing they're watching. The standard in Hollywood is to make your movie and then send the actors on a press tour where they eat hot wings and play games in videos that are more likely to get views than the film's trailer. We're going to build that marketing content into production and then house the movie on the same platform.
